Starting STAAD Foundation Advanced

There are several ways to initiate STAAD Foundation Advanced.

Do either of the following:

In the program group, double-click the STAAD Foundation Advanced icon.

From the Windows Start menu, select All Programs > STAAD Foundation Advanced (default location).

In Windows Explorer, double-click an SFA file icon (with the file extension .sfa).

Note: File from previous versions of STAAD Foundation (with the file extension .afs) may be imported using the Converter program.

Drag an SFA file icon from Windows Explorer and drop it on the STAAD Foundation Advanced icon.

In the Windows Explorer, double-click the icon for the file, StaadFoundation.exe.

The STAAD Foundation Advanced window opens.

Tip: Whether you are a first time user of STAAD Foundation Advanced or if you're familiar with STAAD.foundation (the previous product), we suggest that you read through the Application Window Layout section to familiarize yourself with the new user interface. You may also want to spend some time working some of the included Quick Tour .

Note: If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7 operating systems, you may have to run the program as an administrator. Right click on the StaadFoundation.exe file and select Run as Administrator. Click Yes in the message dialog.
